FIRST appointment
What can you expect?
The first appointment is intended to carefully map out your complaints and assess whether chiropractic care is a suitable form of treatment. Below you can read step by step how the consultation proceeds.

Beforehand: questionnaire
Before your first visit, you will receive a questionnaire with questions about:
Your current complaints
Your medical history
Your general health
This helps ensure the consultation is focused and thorough.
In-depth interview (medical history)
The appointment starts with a personal conversation. We discuss:
The onset of your complaints
Your daily strain
Previous treatments
Your expectations
There is plenty of room to ask questions.
Physical examination
After the conversation, a comprehensive examination follows. Neurological, orthopedic and chiropractic tests are performed. Among other things, we look at:
Posture and movement pattern
Muscle strength and reflexes
Balance and coordination
Eye movements
Blood pressure, heart rate and breathing rhythm
In addition, we assess whether the left and right side of the body function symmetrically.
Spinal motion assessment
The mobility of the spine is tested separately in all directions. If necessary, joints in the arms and legs are also examined.
Movement restrictions can be sensitive and sometimes feel like a bruise. Moving smoothly does not automatically mean that all joints are functioning optimally.
Diagnosis and treatment proposal
Based on the conversation and the examination, the chiropractor makes a diagnosis.
The following will be discussed:
Whether chiropractic care can help
What you can expect from the treatment
What a possible treatment plan looks like
You will always receive honest and clear advice. If chiropractic care is not suitable, we will think along with you about an alternative.
Additional tests (if necessary)
During or after the first appointment, additional tests may be performed, such as:
Blind-spot measurement
Superficial muscle and temperature measurement
Balance and eye-tracking movement tests
These provide additional insight into how the nervous system and balance system are functioning.
If necessary, previously taken X-rays can be requested or additional examinations may be recommended.
Advice and follow-up
In addition to treatment, it may be that:
Exercises are provided
Posture advice is given
Lifestyle or nutritional advice is discussed
Everything is tailored to your personal situation and capacity.
